WARC STAFF

Director: Dr. Ousmane SENE

Professor of African Literature at Cheikh Anta Diop University in Dakar, and since July 2004 the new Director of WARC replacing Dr. Wendy Wilson-Fall. Apart from assuming the directorship of WARC and his teaching research duties at UCAD, Professor Sene is also involved in study abroad and academic exchanges in Senegal.

President of AROA (Senegal) :
Pr. Ibrahima THIOUB

Chair of the History Department at Cheikh Anta Diop University in Dakar. He holds a doctorate in African Modern History and teaches courses on the history and historiography of Africa, the history of Islam, and African historiography of slavery and the Atlantic slave trade.



Administrative and Technical Director :
Abdoulaye NIANG

Accountant by training and computer scientist. He received special training at Columbia University as well as at MSU on web design. He also serves as a trainer in Website design, Computer Sciences and Internet Use. Adviser to Librarians, he is in charge of the scanning unit for the West African Digital Library and responsible for the technical process of the ALMA & TICFIA projects at WARC. He is also in charge of the budget execution, financial report, accounts follow up, payment management, etc..

 

Programs and Public Relations Officer:
Mariane Yade

Mariane Yade studied at University Cheikh Anta Diop, Dakar where she obtained a pre-doctorate degree in English (DEA). She worked for three years as a study abroad assistant at the West African Research center (WARC) before joining Macalester University (Minnesota,USA)where she served as a teaching assistant over a period of three years while experiencing American lifestyle,culture and standards. She is currently WARC's Programs and Public Relations Officer in charge of coordinating WARC's visiting researchers. She also coordinates the study tours hosted by WARC during the summer.

IT and Logistics Manager:
Amadou DIENG

He obtained his Baccalaureate diploma and did political and law studies at Cheikh Anta Diop University for two years. He joined the Center in 1999.Now, as of February 2004, he's the IT & Logistics Manager.

Librarian: Adama DIOUF

She joined the Center in October 2002. She attended the Librarians, Archivists and Documentalists Universitary School of UCAD (EBAD) where she got her degree in Library Sciences. She obtained a training in Chicago with the Digital Library in International Training(DLIR).She supervises WARC library fellows She is now the head of the library..

 

Assistant Librarian :
Aliou Badara SARR

He obtained his Master's degree in English at UCAD. For two years,he was a mentor for a group of first & second year students (get together) before joining the Center in November 2009. He obtained a training certificate on Metadata technics about digital library at WARC in 2011. He is currently assisting the head of the library.


Maintenance:
Amy THIOMBANE (Maguette)

She is a part of the maintenance staff who has been taken from Warc Restaurant since the death of Serigne Bassirou Mbacké Ndiaye.

 

Security:
Ibrahima DIEDHIOU

He joined WARC as a watchman in 1997, upon the center's relocation to Fann.

Security and maintenance:
Seydou SANA

He works as a part of the maintenance staff and as a messenger for the Center. He started to work at WARC in 1999.

 

Maintenance:
Arame DIOM

She joined WARC in October 1999, as a member of the maintenance staff for the Center.

 

Security:
Mamadou Moustapha BA

He joined WARC as a watchman in 1997, upon the center's relocation to Fann.
